BoothLab Alternative When iOS Is Not Your Hardware

BoothLab is one of the better rated 360 apps on the App Store: 4.6 out of 5 from 503 ratings, built by an independent developer, Jorge Cozain. The app is free to download and Pro is an in app subscription billed monthly, every six months or yearly. The exact amounts are not published outside the store listing, so this page quotes no figure it could not verify (checked on its App Store page on 28 August 2026).

Operators go looking for something else for two reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the app: it only exists on iOS, and there is one person behind it. Snap360App answers both.

What BoothLab Genuinely Does Well

Start with the good, because it is real. BoothLab records at 720p, 1080p or 4K between 60 and 240 frames per second, and lets you set the slow motion range rather than locking you to one preset. That is exactly the control a 360 operator wants: a fast capture, a slow ramp on the part where the guest throws the confetti, and back to speed for the walk off.

It also does classic layouts in the same app, shares by QR, drives a sharing station, mirrors to an Apple TV over AirPlay and connects to a Sony body over DSLR. For a single iPad operator shooting 360 and strips from one device, that is a tidy package and 503 people rated it 4.6 for a reason.

One Developer, No Support Contract

BoothLab is the work of an independent developer. No company, no published SLA, no support rota. On a Tuesday that is irrelevant. At 22:40 on a Saturday, with 140 guests waiting and the app refusing to open the camera, it is the only thing that matters.

Solo products are often better made than committee products, so this is no slight on the person who wrote it. It is a business risk you should price honestly: if the app stops working mid event, your fallback is a forum post and a hope. Ask yourself what a cancelled booking costs you, and whether the saving justifies it.

Snap360App vs BoothLab, Side by Side

BoothLab data comes from its App Store listing, checked on 28 August 2026. Where the listing does not publish a figure, the table says so. Snap360App is 24,99 €/month or 239,99 €/year (19,99 €/month) on PLAN PRO, and 36,99 €/month or 359,99 €/year on DIAMOND PRO, which adds simultaneous TV output, more AI frame credits, multiple devices and 15 GB of cloud.

In App Billing Means Per Device Billing

BoothLab Pro is bought inside the app, which means the subscription belongs to the device it was bought on. Add a second booth, add a second subscription. Lend a tablet to a colleague for a Saturday and you are lending your billing with it.

Snap360App is billed to your account. PLAN PRO covers one device at 24,99 € a month, and DIAMOND PRO covers several at 36,99 € a month, so a two or three booth operator pays once instead of once per tablet. It also matters when a tablet dies: you move to a spare and sign in, rather than buying the subscription again.

The Camera Question: Sony, or a GoPro

BoothLab connects to Sony bodies over DSLR. If you already shoot Sony, that is a free upgrade in image quality. If you own a GoPro, which is what most 360 arms are actually holding, its listing does not mention support for it.

Snap360App works with GoPro directly, and it records offline. Between the two, offline is the one that saves weekends: venue wifi is fine at 18:00 with the staff and dead at 21:00 with 120 phones on it. Recording that depends on a live connection is recording that depends on the venue router.

Which One Should You Actually Buy

Snap360App is the alternative on the table here. Check the table above, where the competitor column only contains things BoothLab publishes itself.

Stay with BoothLab if your whole setup is Apple, you shoot Sony, you like the frame rate control and you run one booth. It is a good app at a good rating. Move to Snap360App if you want Android tablets in the fleet, GoPro support, offline recording, one account covering several devices, or a company on the other end of the support email. Both let you test before paying, so put them on the same spinner and see which one your guests get their video from faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does BoothLab Work on Android?

No. BoothLab is an iOS and iPadOS app and there is no Android version on Google Play (checked on 28 August 2026). If you own Android tablets, or you want to buy them because they cost a fraction of a 13 inch iPad, you need a different app. Snap360App runs on Android 7 or later and iOS 13 or later.

How Much Does BoothLab Pro Cost?

The app is free to download and Pro is an in app subscription offered monthly, every six months or yearly. The listing does not publish the amounts in a way we could verify, so check the current prices inside the app before you commit. Snap360App publishes its prices: 24,99 € a month or 239,99 € a year.

Is a 4.6 Rating With 503 Reviews Good?

Yes, and it is worth taking seriously. Five hundred ratings is a real sample, not three friends. It tells you the app works and people like using it. What a rating cannot tell you is who answers the phone when it breaks on a Saturday night, which is the question that decides most switches.

Does BoothLab Support GoPro?

Its listing mentions DSLR connection to Sony cameras and does not mention GoPro. Most 360 arms are holding a GoPro or a phone, so check that before buying if the GoPro is your capture camera. Snap360App supports GoPro directly.

Can I Switch Without Losing My Templates?

Overlays, frames, intros and outros do not transfer between apps, so plan on rebuilding them. Keep your source files (logo, fonts, the client colours) and it is an afternoon. Everything else moves with you: the spinner, the arm, the lights and the tablet mount all stay exactly as they are.

Which Is Better for a 360 Booth?

For an all Apple, single booth operator shooting Sony, BoothLab is a strong choice. For anyone who wants Android hardware, GoPro capture, offline recording or one subscription across several devices, Snap360App is the better fit. Both can be tested for free, so test both on the machine you actually own.

Is BoothLab a Good 360 Photo Booth App for iPad?

Yes, for an all Apple setup: 4.6 from 503 ratings, 60 to 240 frames per second capture and an adjustable slow motion range, with Pro sold as an in app subscription per device. It has no Android version and its listing does not mention GoPro, which is where Snap360App, at 24,99 € a month on iOS and Android, takes over.
