Buy a DNP DS820 Printer

The DNP DS820 printer is the large-format model of the range: the only DNP that prints up to 20×30 cm (8×12") and A4. If your business is not about 10×15 keepsakes but about big prints, event posters, studio portraits, trade fairs or gallery work, this is the machine. Same dye-sublimation technology as the rest of the range, same kind of media (paper + ribbon kit), but at a print size no other DNP reaches. Direct from the manufacturer at 1.700 €.

Why the DNP DS820 and Not a DS620

The difference lies in print size. The DNP DS620 and the DS-RX1HS top out at 15×20 or 15×23 cm and are built for the rhythm of a photo booth: lots of small prints, very fast. The DS820 plays a different game: it reaches 20×30 cm and A4, with intermediate sizes of 10×20, 13×20 and 15×20 cm. It is slower per print because each print is far bigger, and that is exactly what it is asked to do.

It does not compete with the other two, it complements them. If you do events with instant printing, your machine is the RX1HS or the DS620. If you do portraiture, studio, trade fairs, decor or large-print sales, yours is the DS820.

  • Dye-sublimation with the same lab quality as the rest of the range.
  • Same kit media (paper + ribbon), exact and predictable yield.

Who the DS820 Is For

It is not a photo booth printer, and it is worth saying plainly so nobody buys the wrong machine. The DS820 makes sense if you sell or deliver large prints: portrait studios, labs and photo shops, trade fairs and sports events where the print of the day is sold, school photography, brand activations with large-format printing and any service that charges by print size. At 14 kg and 322 × 366 × 170 mm it is a desktop machine, meant to stay installed, not to travel every weekend.

If what you need is 10×15 volume at events, save your money and read the guide on which DNP printer to buy.

Media: the Paper Is Always a Repeat Purchase

Like the rest of the range, the DS820 uses paper + ribbon kits that yield a fixed number of prints, so the spend is predictable and what decides your margin is the cost per print. Its media comes in 20×30 cm in SD and PP finishes, and also A4. You buy the printer once, but you reorder media job after job: get in touch with your volume and we will send you kit pricing and repeat-order terms. Everything about how DNP media works is in the DNP paper guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does the DNP DS820 Printer Cost?

The DNP DS820 printer costs 1.700 € (VAT included), direct from the manufacturer. It is the only one in the DNP range that prints up to 20×30 cm and A4. Message us on WhatsApp for availability and shipping.

What Sizes Does the DNP DS820 Print?

It prints 4×8", 5×8", 6×8", 8×10" and 8×12", that is 10×20, 13×20, 15×20, 20×25 and 20×30 cm, plus A4. It is the only model in the DNP range that reaches large format.

How Long Does a 20×30 Print Take?

An 8×12" (20×30 cm) print takes 33.9 seconds in Pure Premium mode and 39.2 seconds in Standard Digital. An 8×10" drops to 29.3 and 33.7 seconds respectively. It is slower than a DS620 because each print is far bigger.

DS820 or DS620: Which Suits Me?

It depends on the print size you sell, not on power. If you work events with instant 10×15 printing, your machine is the DS620 or the DS-RX1HS. If you sell large prints (studio, trade fairs, lab, event posters), the DS820, because it is the only one that reaches 20×30 and A4.

What Is the DNP DS820DX?

It is the DS820 variant with double-sided (duplex) printing, meant for albums, menu cards and pieces printed on both sides. It shares format and technology with the standard DS820.

Is the DS820 Any Good for a Photo Booth?

Technically it prints, but it fits a booth badly: it weighs 14 kg, it is a desktop unit and its smallest print is 10×20 cm, bigger and slower than a booth needs. For photo booths the options are the DS-RX1HS, the DS620 or the QW410. The DS820 is for whoever sells large prints.

What Paper Does the DNP DS820 Need?

It uses its own paper + ribbon kits in 20×30 cm, SD and PP finishes, and also A4. They are not interchangeable with those of the DS620, the RX1HS or the QW410. Get in touch with your size and volume and we will send you price and availability.
