HiTi vs Sinfonia: Which Dye-Sublimation Printer to Choose

This is the most polarised comparison in the dye-sub market: the HiTi P525L and the Sinfonia CS2 sit at opposite ends of the same scale. One yields more per roll than anyone; the other you can carry unaided. And oddly, the light one is also the faster one.

HiTi P525L vs Sinfonia CS2: the Numbers

On autonomy the HiTi runs away with it: 500 prints per roll at 10×15, 290 at 13×18 and 250 at 15×20, against the CS2’s 300, 170 and 150. That is 66% more prints at the main size.

But on speed the Sinfonia wins: 11 seconds per 10×15 print against the HiTi’s 12.8, and at 15×20, 19 s against 20.5.

And on weight there is no contest: the CS2 is around 10 kg; the P525L, around 18 kg. Eight kilos apart.

  • HiTi P525L: 12.8 s · 500 prints/roll · ~18 kg.
  • Sinfonia CS2: 11 s · 300 prints/roll · ~10 kg.
  • The HiTi yields 66% more per roll at 10×15.
  • The Sinfonia is faster and weighs eight kilos less.

Fixed Installation or Car Boot

The answer here is almost geographical. If the printer stays put (kiosk, venue, multi-day fair, studio), the HiTi is the logical one: you reload far less and nobody has to lift it.

If the printer travels with you every weekend, the Sinfonia. Eight kilos show on every staircase, and it prints slightly faster on top.

The cost of that mobility is reloading more: across 4,500 prints a year, the CS2 asks for 15 rolls and the HiTi, 9. If your paper arrives promptly that is just logistics; if you are far from your distributor, it is a problem.

Before You Decide

Neither has DNP’s media network in Europe, and that is the variable that weighs most three years out. To see how they stack up against it, look at DNP vs HiTi and DNP vs Sinfonia. And if weight was your real criterion, the DNP QW410 weighs 5.8 kg, half the CS2.
